What changed in every Token Meter release, with system requirements and installation steps.

Token Meter 1.2.9

This patch makes the Codex weekly percentage reliable again and gives the update alert a focused release-notes view.

Changes

  • Select each Codex quota bucket using the timestamp inside its usage event, preventing an older session opened later from replacing the current weekly percentage.
  • Do not announce a quota reset when a stale reading has the same reset deadline as the current quota.
  • The update alert now embeds a dedicated, header-free page with only the offered version's notes and a compact language selector.

Token Meter 1.2.8

This update makes Codex quota reporting consistent across the menu bar, dashboard, and refresh actions.

Changes

  • Codex Pro now always displays its weekly account quota; the shared 5-hour / weekly preference remains available for Claude Code and other Codex plans.
  • Keep regular Codex quota separate from Codex Spark. You can hide Spark quota bars in Settings under Codex without changing normal Codex reporting.
  • Fix a case where refreshing could show a Spark percentage as the regular Codex percentage or incorrectly send a weekly reset notification.
  • When Claude token data cannot be read, show an em dash instead of a stale token value.
  • The in-app update alert now opens the release notes for the offered version.

Token Meter 1.2.7

This update keeps usage and quota information separate when the same provider exposes multiple models or quota windows.

Changes

  • Separate regular Codex usage from Codex Spark 5-hour and weekly quota windows, so Spark activity no longer looks like a reset of the regular Codex quota.
  • Preserve Codex usage history independently for each model, including migrations from existing sessions without duplicating past events.
  • Make Claude and Copilot multi-model usage display deterministic when more than one model appears in local logs.
  • Improve notification threshold and reset handling for providers with multiple quota windows.

Token Meter 1.2.6

This update makes the manual Claude Code sign-in and Keychain access guide fully available in all four languages supported by Token Meter.

Changes

  • Expanded the Claude Code manual sign-in guide into complete English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean versions. Each language now covers checking the Claude Code installation, signing in with /login, granting macOS Keychain access, recovering after selecting Deny, and troubleshooting common errors.
  • Added language links at the top of the guide and aligned button and setting names with the localized labels shown in Token Meter.

Token Meter 1.2.5

This update turns "your Claude Code sign-in expired" into a one-click fix, and stops the widget from getting stuck on its empty state.

Changes

  • Added a one-click way out of every Claude connection problem. Where Token Meter reports an expired sign-in, a missing Claude Code install, or a denied Keychain item — the menu bar card, Setup, and the setup guide — it now offers a button that does the next step for you: opening Terminal with claude ready for /login, opening the download page, or performing the single Keychain read that makes macOS show its approval dialog.
  • Every one of those steps asks first. A popup states exactly what is about to happen before anything opens, and each popup also links to the written manual steps for anyone who would rather do it by hand. When a step turns out to reveal a different problem — the Keychain read succeeds but the token has expired, or claude is not installed after all — Token Meter offers the next step instead of dead-ending.
  • The Keychain approval can now be granted deliberately. Right after you enable Claude Pro / Max usage, in the setup guide and in Settings, a button performs the credential read on demand, so macOS asks for approval one click after you asked for it rather than out of a background refresh. Choosing "Always Allow" in the system dialog stops the prompts for good.
  • Added a documentation page covering all of it by hand: checking the install, /login, the Keychain approval, and what to do if you denied it. It is linked from the app and from the setup section of the website.
  • Fixed the widget showing "No data" after being added or resized. macOS renders the placeholder while a widget waits for its first timeline, and the placeholder held no data; it now shows the last good snapshot. Widget reloads are also rate-limited, so a burst of refreshes at launch no longer spends WidgetKit's reload budget and leaves a later reload dropped.
  • Changed the Clear widget background to a translucent frosted material. It now genuinely shows the wallpaper through the widget in every appearance mode, and works on every supported macOS version — previously it required macOS 26 and looked opaque unless the system's widget-dimming setting was on.

Token Meter 1.2.4

This update lets you choose the widget background style and makes the widget look right in the system's tinted (accented) rendering mode.

Changes

  • Added a widget background setting: keep the existing Solid background, or switch to Clear (Liquid Glass) for a translucent glass look. Clear is offered only on macOS 26 and later, where the Liquid Glass API exists; on older systems the widget stays Solid. The choice is stored alongside your existing language and notation settings and the widget refreshes as soon as you change it.
  • Optimized the widget for the system's tinted (accented) appearance: brand icons, the progress-bar fill, the headline percentage, and the large-widget chart line now take the accent colour while labels stay legible, so the light, dark, tinted, and clear widget appearances all render cleanly.

Token Meter 1.2.3

This update adds a one-click sign-in shortcut for expired Claude Code sessions, and brings both time windows to the small widget.

Changes

  • Added a "Sign in to Claude Code" button wherever Token Meter reports an expired or unauthorized Claude session (Setup and the menu bar popover). It opens Terminal and runs claude for you — you only need to type /login once it starts. The button only appears once Token Meter has confirmed claude is actually on your PATH, and Token Meter still never reads, stores, or refreshes your Claude credentials itself.
  • The small (2×2) widget now shows both the 5-hour and weekly reset countdowns for Claude and Codex, stacked compactly, instead of just the 5-hour reset for Claude alone.

Token Meter 1.2.2

This update fixes a reset notification that named the wrong limit, and makes every "Today" in the app agree. Codex and Copilot token counts were also being overstated.

Changes

  • Fixed reset notifications naming the wrong limit. When the 5-hour limit rolled over, the weekly limit often became the tightest one left, and the notice read "Weekly quota reset" — while the weekly limit had not moved at all. Worse, that mislabelled notice then suppressed the genuine 5-hour notices for the rest of the week. Each limit is now tracked on its own.
  • Fixed Codex and Copilot token counts being overstated. Codex reports reasoning tokens inside its output count and cached tokens inside its input count, but the app added them on top, so "work" could come out higher than the total it is part of — Codex showed 26.23M of 26.20M. Claude Code's figures were correct and are unchanged.
  • Made "Today" mean the same thing everywhere. The dashboard showed real work while the menu bar, the widget and the widget's chart showed cache-inclusive totals — the same label with numbers up to 50x apart. Every surface now leads with real work and shows the total beside it.
  • The 5-hour, weekly and "Last 7 days" rows now show real work with their total, matching the cards next to them. Previously "Last 7 days" read 157M directly above "Today" at 1.19M, which invited an impossible comparison.

Token Meter 1.2.1

This update fixes Japanese units appearing in the English interface, makes the 90-day chart readable, and lets Japanese, Chinese and Korean users choose how token counts are abbreviated.

Changes

  • Fixed the dashboard charts labelling their axes in the system language instead of the one you picked. On a Japanese Mac with the English interface selected, the charts read "6億" and "16日" where they should have read "600M" and "16".
  • The 90-day chart now labels every 10th day instead of every day, so the dates no longer collide into an unreadable smear, and it names the month — a bare "6" says little across three months.
  • Added a number format setting for Japanese, Chinese and Korean: token counts can now read as either K/M/B or in myriad units (万 / 億). The choice applies everywhere at once — charts, cards, menu bar and widget — so no two places disagree. K/M/B stays the default.

Token Meter 1.2.0

This update adds GitHub Copilot CLI tracking, a setup step that verifies the connection actually works, and longer comparison periods on the dashboard.

Changes

  • Added GitHub Copilot CLI usage tracking. It counts tokens only, and its models overlap with Claude Code, so it is off by default — turn it on in Settings if you use Copilot in the terminal.
  • Added a connection check to the setup guide. It verifies that usage can actually be read for what you picked, not just that a tool is installed, and tells you exactly what to fix — signed out, no session log yet, or macOS blocking access. Press "Re-check" after fixing, or finish setup now and connect later while Token Meter keeps looking in the background.
  • Added a 90-day range to the dashboard, along with "vs yesterday", "vs prev 7 days", "vs prev 30 days", and "vs prev 90 days" comparisons.
  • Token Meter now notices when Claude Code's sign-in has expired and tells you to run /login instead of silently showing no plan usage.

Token Meter 1.1.7

This update significantly improves the readability of the dashboard and widgets, making "actually processed tokens" visible at a glance.

Changes

  • Unified dashboard metrics to "actually processed tokens" (excluding cached content resent each turn). Summary cards now emphasize the processed amount, with the total (including cache) shown alongside.
  • Consolidated "Recent Activity" into sessions. One row represents one session, showing time, turns, processed tokens, and cached tokens together.
  • The Today view now displays an hourly bar chart (0-23 hours) instead of a daily chart.
  • Connected line charts with straight lines and added a compact tooltip showing token counts when hovering over data points.
  • Merged "Plan usage remaining" and "Current windows" into a single "Usage windows" section, showing remaining percentage and tokens in one row per limit. Fixed the toggle for 5-hour/weekly limits to apply to both.
  • Removed the redundant "Claude vs Codex" chart.
  • Changed the Large widget's 7-day chart to a line chart with axis labels and fixed rendering cut-offs.
  • Fixed an issue where widgets would temporarily display empty content right after startup (now falls back to the most recent data).

Token Meter 1.1.5

This update introduces full support for four languages (English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean) across the main app and widgets. You can switch languages anytime from within the app, both during first launch and from Settings.

Privacy

Token history aggregation and storage are fully local. The app never saves prompt text, response bodies, or credentials.
